The Pick 4 on Friday paid $17k for 50c and the Pick 6 paid out for 4 of 6! Need I say more! We have 11 races on the card today and it looks as tough as yesterday’s so we may be seeing some large carryovers into the last 2 days of racing. The first race today is a 5 1/2 sprint with the paper fav 7/2! Baffert horses are going to be playing a key role in keeping our tickets alive today so I am keeping said tickets small as a result!
We have another jockey battle at Del Mar with Prat, Bejarano and Roman all tied with 28 wins with three days to go.

Pick 4 I need a single is race 8 St Patrick’s Day with Prat riding for Baffert. It is always tough singling this trainer in California lately. Ran 2nd in his debut he is a full brother to American Pharaoh and the horse he ran second to last out is racing in the Del Mar Futurity on Monday. A sharp work adds to the appeal. If this horse does not win its a cost prohibitive spread race!
Longshots of the Day:
Race 1: Vigorously Juan moves up in class off a win at this distance last and a 2nd prior. 3rd start off the bench
Race 5: Landonese, Talamo hops on and cuts back after fading in the stretch going a mile last out after a speed duel, trainer is 36% route to sprint and 33% sprint to route to sprint and both for positive returns
Race 6: Ample Sufficiency, flew down the stretch to win in his 2nd US start, Baze is 2 for 2 for trainer, moving up in class we get 8-1 or more for a race won by horses over 5-1 at a 43% rate, has the best speed in this race too
Race 9: Madame Stripes, stakes races at Del Mar bring large prices, Talamo hops on a horse who won last out and raced 2nd in the previous 3. Win rider Desormeaux rightly sticks to his brothers horse and usually that would have me discount this horse given the trainers poor record but Talamo is riding lights out
Race 10: Aglimpseofgabby, drops multiple classes for a trainer who is 42% from 26 starts on this move, 19% in sprints and put in a 2nd of 64 work last week. Closing weekend at Del Mar they want to be seen in the winners circle. This is the same owner/trainer of my race 5 longhshot I just noticed!

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
