L.A. Times Value Play of the Day
Race 7: Oiseau de Guerre was claimed last out for $62k by trainer Doug O’Neill with his own cash. No works since that January 10th race he jumps the horse up in class today and races him protected. O’Neill is 24% first off the claim. That last race saw Joel Rosario take the mount and Oiseau was bet down for the money run. Unfortunately the horse threw the head at the start, pulled and tracked last throughout the race. On the gallop out he looked loaded and passed everyone 5 wide. With a cleaner start with that early speed what could have happened? That race was 6 ½ fl on the dirt. He moves to turf today and cuts back. Oiseau won three in a row on all-weather at 6 furlongs in the fall. He also has a win and five seconds on the Downhill course always surging late to finish. What will the tactic be here today? I’m not sure but the 12-1 or more morning line is too good a value to ignore. O’Neill saw enough to claim for himself.

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.
*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
