It was another 4 out of 5 in the Pick 5 yesterday when we bet against a favorite in race 1 who had done nothing in a year and he beat us on the line to our 7-1 top choice. The early Pick 4 at $75 was a small consolation for the $12 bet. We have had 4 of 5 a few times now in recent days on the Pick 5 so today I am going to spend a smidge more on the bet despite the tough sequence.

This is not an easy card and with the possibility of rain too its not much easier. We start and end on the Hillside course in a Pick 5 that also includes a maiden claiming race with a bunch of so-so’s. The ticket below is $36 but I have some additional plays for those looking to spend a little more on tickets. The late Pick 4 I have listed as $18 but I also have add on’s in the last 2 legs that takes the ticket to $40.50

Pick 4 “I need a Single” is in race 8 Belvoir Bay who is seeking a 3rd straight win after winning on the Hill last out and going a mile prior, trainer and jockey are red hot right now. I also added in the Bejarano horse here at 8-1, Lady Valeur who has speed and will be right there with the favorite, Bejarano had a few choices in here so at a price we will use and also Barleysugar with Stevens riding

Race 1: Fire to the Wire, won last race and moving up in class and trying dirt so we get 8-1 morning line with hot jockey, sharp workout, turf in blood. Lambo Luxx is also interesting in here with Prat riding off a win last out and a 3rd prior

Race 5: Tribal Roar, two sharp works into this race at a big price on the Hill,  jockey quietly on fire in recent days, regular works since last race in August perhaps looking for a race like this to run in

Race 8: Lady Valeur see above

Race 9: Woodfox, 1st time Lasix for trainer 1 of 3, 1st time blinkers, bobbled at the start in debut and then closed from 10th to 6 going shorter so clean takeoff today and added distance with bomber jockey Chantal and 20-1. It seems everyone is talking about this horse today so unlikely we will get that 20-1 price now

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

Whenever we have a scratch of a suggested play in a sequence go to the website using the password that is emailed out with each card to see if there are any needed changes. If there is a late scratch after a bet is done and I do not put in an alternative it means I am looking to getting the post time favorite. If it is an early scratch and I do not add in an extra horse it means I am looking to just having one less selection in the sequence and a cheaper bet.
