A Pick 6 carryover tells you how the Pick 4 sequence was yesterday! This is another difficult Pick 4 today with the shortest price in 3 of the 4 legs being 3-1! Today’s Pick 4 is Guaranteed again for $500k so even if it chalks out it will pay decent.
Bejarano rides the favorite in race #9 Chief of Staff. Yesterday was a rare day where Bejarano did not ride a winner. Look for him to correct that today. Chief won last out under this jockey in a race where 3 other horses returned to win. #1 Big Tire always gives you a run for your money but never quite gets there for the win. One of these days he will fly from the clouds and get his picture taken. Jerry races another in here aside from the favorite, the #6 Skip Tony who is dropping today. I don’t want to spend a lot on my ticket so I wont use.
In race 3 the favorite is #2 Masochistic who has won 3 of 4 here. Away since July he has put in two straight sharp works and looks ready to roll. #6 Wild Dude caught in that July race. Baffert races #8 Gimme Da Lute who is rising in class seeking his 5th straight win but reports are he scratched from a the September 19th race due to a foot issue and Baffert aint exactly heating things up so I won’t use.
In race 8 Gender Agenda the #3 is seeking a 3rd straight win for Gaines who wins non-graded stakes races 21% of the time. #2 Journey On attracts Bejarano for Baltas and these two are winning 44% this year. A troubled trip last out she let loose once clear but it was too late. I have no prices yet in my Pick 4 so this is as good a race as any to take a stab. #9 Intoxicating Move won last out off a 4 month break and was claimed away from D’Amato by Carava who promptly rises her? She does like Santa Anita and from 10 starts here is 3-3-2 and Nakatani sticks around after the claim and a sharp workout last week too. There is a lot of speed for her to run at her today as well.
The final leg today is a $50k claimer on dirt. #13 Great Lou loves this track with an impressive 4 wins from 5 starts. Hollendorfer claimed from Hess last out. #11 Where Y’at Joe Joe from trainer Desormeaux is jumping up big today but this horse always gives you your bets worth in a race. Second last out after a win previously, a sharp workout September 19 for a trainer who is 40% on a jump move like this, I like the price here. Plus, its not like there are any world beaters in here. I am going on the cheap side in today’s ticket so feel free to add in additional plays. Aside from the horses selected here nothing really jumped out. Follow me on twitter for potential changes or adds as we get closer to the sequence!
Today’s Late Pick 4 will cost $12 with horses listed in preference
Pick 5 will cost $18
The Best Bet today looks to be #2 Masochistic in race 8. This race has now been cut down to 5 entrants and will likely end up being a match race with #6 Wild Dude. I prefer Masochisitc. For prices I like #9 Chips All In in race #6. Chips won this race in 2013, has a sharp workout and a great price of 5-1.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
Good Luck today!
