Today we give gratitude and respect to our fallen military and their families and to those who continue to serve.

Well I had three out of four again yesterday but I only spent $18 on the sequence which I said was a tough one. Even if I had gone my normal full bet amount the winner of leg 2 is not one I would have selected under the best of circumstances. Still, my Best Bet won yet again and going cheap yesterday means I have some more ammo for today’s meet which I need. This is one of the toughest sequences I have seen in a while!

The Pick 4 starts on the Hillside course today, and while the morning line betting says this is a three-horse race, it is a race that could pop out a high price. The slight favorite is #10 Entrchat who drops and runs shorter after a 6th place finish in a G2. She won here in February. There is also the #1 Curlin’s Fox who one first out on the hill in February then came in 4th in a G1 and drops today. A very interesting price horse here with Baze riding for Miller is #3 Spelling Again. She shortens up today after a 6th place finish but did run second on the hill in March and is giving a 12-1 price and also put in a sharp workout last week. Of 20 races this has been won by the favorite only 20% and 40% of the time its a horse priced over 5-1. The other horse that’s a “short price” in here is #4 Divina Comedia with Talamo on board. In here first US start on the Hill in March she romped down the stretch to finish third. She was bet to favorite that day.

Ice cold Hess/Desormeaux bring us #7 Secret Command in race 7. Off since November he comes in here protected. Is this a prep race or go time at a price. This cold streak from Hess is pretty rare so you know the winners are coming and I just have to use. The lowest price in this leg is 7/2 so its really anyone’s race. The other horse that jumped out at me is #4 Market Notes. He has run 4th twice and third in his most recent and gives 8-1 but Baze is riding, he is dropping and he has been putting in good workouts. This brings us the tepid favorite in this race, #12 Public Policy. Talamo rode his last two races and decides to stick with #11 Curlin Iron whom he has ridden before at a price of 10-1. For this reason I am not going to use the favorite and instead will go with the red-hot jockey Talamo. Curling is moving up in class. If you have extra cash to spend by all means use the favorite (I know my dad will!) but I am going to leave him out and trust in Talamo. Instead I will use who I think should be the favorite in here, the #2 Flat Gone. Baltas, who is having a great meet, claimed him and jumped him in class which failed. He drops him back down today and sticks the rookie and his weight break on him so Baltas means business today.

The 8th race is a Grade 1 on turf at a mile and an eight and is another very tough race with many having a legit shot and many of those are horses I like to use. The favorite is #9 Hard Not To Like an invader from back east. I do not like using non-Cali runners first time and prefer to watch a race but I have been straying from the favorites in previous legs so I will use this fillie who has won 3 of her last 4. I am also going to use #4 Fanticola who got collared in the stretch and cuts back in distance today and D’Amato is red-hot. #10 Queen of The Sand was the one who caught Fanticola in that G3. #3 Blingismything is another that is always in the mix with the previous two and if you have cash to spend you can use her too.

The final leg today does not get any easier with the shortest price being 7/2 and four horses with little separating them price-wise. Bejarano usually gets at least a win in the pick 4 sequence and he rides the tepid favorite #6 Show and Tell so I will use. I am only going to go two deep in here given my extra coverage in the earlier legs. I will side with Baze on #12 Ladies Man. Pupye is an 80% trainer dropping two+ classes like today and a sharp workout last week and the fact this horse saw some serious tote action in the debut could mean go time today.

My Best Bet Ashleyluvssugar did the job for us yesterday. My Best Bet today is San Onofre in race 3. Mike Smith hops back on for a horse that over the last 2 months has turned in 5 bullet works. Because Wild Due is running in this race we get a better price that we normally would too.
