Santa Anita 02-13-2015

Today I am going with a very small ticket that if you like it you can hit it a few times. It’s the kind of pick four sequence where you could spread and spend a lot of money and still not make it out so I’m going the other way! There are a couple of horses I like and if they fire today we get the win for a cheap day at the races! I’ve also got a couple of tweaks you can make to the ticket for more chances too.

In the 1st leg #4 Air Nashoba has just been unfortunate in both starts racing wide each time. Could a clean trip see him visit the winners circle today? Dropping and a shorter distance can only help plus a fast workout last week adds to the appeal. The #1McHeat is fast, switches to turf and lands a post that is winning 25% at Santa Anita. He has turf in his blood that also helps.

I’m not one to do a lot of singles in races as I am usually looking for some price horses but in the 6th Race the #6 Persuasive Paul looks like a clear single. He’s 3 of 4 with his last win on turf. Today he races on dirt where he is 2 for 2. If you are uneasy singling then the #8 Friendly Banter who was 1st or second in 8 of 9 last year can be used. #1 Muchos Besos is dropping after going to gate to wire in a $25k last out.

Race #7 brings us the downhill course and for me to get the favorite to win this race all I need do is hit the ALL button! You could very well to that with this ticket I have set up and it will still come out at the same $40’ish ticket I usually do. The #5 Guggeheim won by over three lengths at this distance last month with gas in the tank and his mammy was a multiple winner on turf. Espinoza/Shirreffs are 2 for 4 as well. #8 Bernster is from the Baffert/Garcia tandem who are starting to rip off some wins. He runs on turf for the first time today after a win last out after a year break. The knock is the class hike but you have to consider as Baffert is heating up.

In the final leg I like the #7 Oleanderpolarbear who shortens up after a fourth place finish in here debut where she showed nice early speed. We also must use the Baffert/Garcia in here, the #10 Ritzy Tags who ran second dropping to this level in her last. Of the first time starters in here #9 Kelbaker looks the most interesting. Her mammy has 1 winner from 1 starter and daddy wins 21% first out. A fast workout last week adds to the appeal.

Today’s bet will cost $6

6  (1,8 for extra coverage if you want)

If you decide to spread the downhill it will cost only $30

Good luck today!
