What can I say. In the last two legs we handicapped the winners at a price but alas we were knocked out in the downhill where the favorite only wins if I bet all! This is a TOUGH sequence today but there are some intriguing price horses I like so let’s see! There’s also no downhill slot machine race either!
In the 1st leg race #5 there is a very interesting double class dropper that we should get a very nice price on, the #4 Presiding Justice. He lost by only 2 lengths in his last. Last summer Presiding was on FIRE, ratting off two wins and three seconds. I really like this horse here today. #7 Senor Rain ran 3rd at $12.5k and moved down to this $8k level and finished second. His trainer is winning 75% on dirt 1st time claim too. The morning line favorite is #6 Nextdoorneighbor who misfired in his last after ratting off two wins and three seconds. If you want to go deeper in here #10 Red N Black Attack is a consideration. I’ve burned my money up using previously so won’t use but he’s moving down in class after a second place finish in his last.
This is a tough race as there are many I like. So Baffert/Garcia have finally started to heat up after months of mediocrity in Southern California. With that in mind, an even though #5 American Pride has not run around two turns and finished 4th in his last route, I have to use as he is 2 for 2 here. #3 Prime Issue is a front runner and those have done very well at this distance. He beat Ashleyluvsugar who won yesterday and is 4 for 6 recently. I want to use the #7 Snuggley Bear who is 2 for 3, Desormeaux rides BUT he’s moving up in class. Instead I am going to go with Mike Smith on #1 Batti Man. In big money races Smith is the man these days and in others its a toss up but Batti is a speed front runner and those do very well at this distance, the #1 post is giving a 23% win rate and Mike Smith chose to stay with this horse on the barn downgrade. Does Smith see something in this horse or is he just collecting his riders check? e might be jsut collecting a check becase he was riding in the Let’s swing for the fences at a price!
In the 7th Stevens and Mandella hook up on #3 Anxious Times. A potent pair over the years it pays to focus on their horses. He won big in his last race too. #7 Indian Nate with Desormeaux on board has a win and two seconds on turf from 4 starts. This jockey upgrade with blinkers added could mean go time! The favorite is likely to be #1 Christopher Street. Van Dyke rides and he previously rode #7 Indian Nate. A ploy by Sadler who trains both? I doubt Desormeaux wants to play rabbit so I will not use. #8 Day Of Fury from Baffert posted a fast workout this week. A frontrunner who tired in a shorter he will battle the #1 and if he falters will set it up for our other plays.
In the final leg #7 Bandido Too drops two classes and makes his first start in three months. He was second by a half length here at this level previously. His trainer is also winning at a 33% clip on a drop like this. The fav in this race will be the #10 Sky Heart with my man Talamo on board. Sky has a fast workout this week and Talamo is on fire over the last week at a 33% win rate. The big knock here is the outside post. #13 Artic Wolfe also has a crappy post too but Bejarano hops on after a very fast workout last week. If you want to try another in here the #11 Muzzled Mouse rocketed in his last before fading to Thursday’s winner Pat The Bear who won the second race.
Today’s bet will cost $40.50.
