I over-thought yesterday’s pick 4 bet in the 8th race. When I handicapped late Friday night I chose #2 and #7. When I did my write-up I noticed how Baffert trained both horses so I took the stretch out, blinkers-off horse off my ticket. Usually I will bet both horses from the same trainer except it was Baffert, my least favorite trainer. I chose wrong. In the final leg I was screaming for the outsider #12 to win as #2 our bomb with Desourmeax on board looked like he would take it for an $1,800 payoff for 50c! We are getting mighty close to the big pay is all I will say! Today’s sequence is one where I feel good about singling twice which means I can go heavy in the other two legs and hope for some prices!

The $500k guaranteed pick four begins on the hillside course today and that is GREAT cause I have two horses as singles in the sequence meaning I can hit ALL in this race and don’t have to over think this! I’m hoping the hillside slot machine comes up BOMB, BOMB,BOMB!

The Desormeaux brothers team up on the favorite #4 Texas Red in race 6. Is this a tune-up race is the million dollar question here? I’ll single and cross my fingers this horse is as good as everyone thinks and wins what appears to be a prep race.

In the 7th race, because I have two singles in the sequence, I can spread a little in here too and just as well because there are a few horses I like to bet when they run! #3 Press Baron is the morning line favorite with Bejarano riding. Bejarano is winning at a 50% rate for trainer Baltas. #10 Buymeabond won his last race in December and likes hanging out in the winners circle. #11 Persuasive Paul is a horse that when I don’t back him he wins, plain and simple, so I have to use. #9 Ice Cream Truck is another horse my money always lands on. I am also going to use the #6 Alpine luck from the Desormeuax brothers again, and because I live in Alpine California and I’m hunting for prices, I must use! Fourth on dirt, fourth on synthetic, maybe today its first on turf. We have seen this many times in the past and at a price I will take that gamble!

The final leg of the Pick 4 is #2 Froggy Fresh’s to win. He had a horrid trip in his last when he was 7/5 favorite and still managed to finish 3rd. No over-thinking here – single all the way!

I dislike both teams in the Superbowl but I think Seattle’s defense can overcome any New England cheating!
