A tough day to swallow yesterday with the $12 Pick 4 selection we made coming up three out of four. Knocked out in the first leg where I had four horses, my second choices won in the next two legs and my single in the last got scratched giving us the favorite who won! Drama like that should have paid off! Today’s sequence is not an easy one with two hillside races and large fields but it looks very doable!
Race #6 begins the late Pick Four today on the Hillside course. It’s a full field with quite a few first time starters. This is a possible ALL race but there are no clear singles in the other legs so we have to dig through the info and find the best shots. #10 Clickjab is the morning line favorite based on his past performances sprinting. Sprinters usually do well here. The other possible favorite is the #1 Domino Johnson who finished third the last time he tried this hillside course. #8 Guggenheim has the hillside turf course winning attitude in his blood with his dam winning all four tries here.
In the 7th race #7 Little Curlin is the morning line favorite. You either like this horse or don’t. I like him and the Van Dyke/Hollendorfer combo is 2 for 5. He won his last and has finished in the money in his last several races. This is Van Dykes last day at the apprentice weight break too so he is likely to be aggressive today! Bejarano and Miller with a 24% win rate hook up on #3 Reno Rebel who has won his last couple of races and likes to do so with the lead. An interesting horse is the #2 Catch A Flight, an invader from Argentina who has won 6 of 10 and gets Stevens to ride. I’m not a fan of the S. American horses but he has Giants Causeway in his blood, a winning record and Stevens. Add to that he is 2nd choice in the morning line it seems many think he’s live and the recent sharp works here say that too!
In the 8th we move back to the hillside course. I like #6 Sir Macho who has run second in his last two on dirt and turf. Macho is a late runner and those are usually who win on the hillside course. Another late runner is #8 Watch It Buster who almost won here back in November on the course. Talamo rides and I find I must use Talamo when he has a live mount on the turf. The other must use in here is the #2 Gold Chaser who dropped in class and won his last and that race has since produced another winner this weekend. That was on dirt though.
In the final leg a 7 furlong on dirt I am going to use the #6 Donji, and #9 Sunshine Bandit. Donji likes to win from behind and at this distance that’s a great trait as the speed types usually tire in the stretch. Sunshine has Talamo on board for a possible late double and he’s also dropping in class.
Today’s Pick 4 bet will cost $27
Good luck today!
