It wasn’t much but our Pick 4 win yesterday paid $88.70, enough to cover the weekend $500,000 Guarantee Pick 4’s we will do and put us on the board with a win! Let’s see if we can get a streak going! I’m going to mix it up a bit today with 2 tickets. One is along our normal, spread in each race strategy and another is loaded in the first and last leg with two singles.

Of course today’s sequence would begin with my nemesis, the downhill turf course but you know what? We got this! #3 Q’Viva likes this 6.5 furlong distance with two seconds in three starts, once in Del Mar and once on the Hillside course. Bejarano who is really starting to heat up rides. #7 Underhill Drive is the morning line favorite so we will use her. She had a horrible trip in her last race and still managed to finish third. That was also her first race off a five month layoff. Could we do more in this leg, yes. #6 Cacica Dulima won on this Hillside course in October. #8 Susan B good ran second here in October. The intriguing horse in this leg is the #10 Tinkerbelle Tops, from Paddy Gallagher with Solis on top. Tinkerbelle was second in a sprint on Turf at Del Mar in November after a one year layoff beating the #7 and has a win on dirt back east in her only other start.

The 7th is a race loaded with speed.  I will use #3, Light The City, trained by Hollendorfer with two wins and a third in three starts. I am definitely going to use #6 Rattatatap  given the impressive performance yesterday by Popover who Rattatatap beat in their last race. #4 Xoxo is 2 for 3 winning at Del Mar and Los Al but coming in 5th behind 2 others in this race. Desormeaux is on board which swayed my decision too away from the #1 Seduire who is loaded with speed but stuck on the rail. If you have a larger ticket you could also use the #5 Hennythelovepenny who won easily here in October, jumped up in class in the Breeders Cup and got schooled and so moves back down. For those looking for a bomber in the sequence this could be it.

In the 8th race I will use the morning line favorite #9 Tom’s Tribute but I’m not sure I trust him enough to even consider singling. His last race was blah but so too was the performance of the #2 Big Bang Theory. Bang LOVES this course however winning 4 of 6 which makes me give him the slight edge. Turf demon Talamo is on board too. Of the two horses if you are singling, I would chose #2.

In the last leg we have #5 Lyla Della as the 9-5 morning line favorite. She is moving way down in class but has not run since January last year. This is another favorite that is tough to trust so I will use more. #7 Ski’s Copper Penny finished 3rd at Los Al last month and this trainer/jockey due win at a 20% rate. #12 Southern Owah has two seconds from three races and in what looks like a throw a dart race I will use. There is also a Bertrando filly in here today, #3 Bernier with Espinoza on board which could indicate she’s ready.

Today’s Pick 4 bet will cost $46, one for $36 and one for $10.
