Yesterday I went with some bombs and it was a bombs away day in the last 2 legs with the Pick 4 paying over $4k for 50c but alas, none of our big outsiders hit. Still, these large pay-offs we are seeing make our strategy all the more attractive! Today, however I’m going to be a little more conservative with stick with the 1st-3rd choices.

I’m going three deep in the 1st leg today, race 5. #4 Danette from the Desormeaux brothers is taking a steep drop in class and could wake up nicely here. #5 Popover is the morning line favorite with Bejarano on board, a jockey who looks like he is ready to heat up. Popover barely lost in its first race to the favorite running in the Grade II on Saturday. I’m also going to use #9 Awesome Diamond, an Irish turf horse that has disappointed. Recently we have seen some European turf horses move to the dirt and surprise (last week we scored a $1,300 Pick 5 using this same approach when Irish horse Broadcaster won at 11-1 on the move to dirt).

In the 6th Race we have the favorite #4 Boozer who is going after his third straight win. I’m also going to use #1 Hay Dude, 4th and 3rd in the last two with Desormeaux on-board and the second choice in the betting. I’m also going to use #7 Mega Heat who simply loves this course finishing 1st or 2nd six out of nine races here.

In the 7th race I am going to go three deep using the #3 Alfa Bird and the #5 Cautious Giant and the #8 Got Even. The race both Giant and Bird last ran in has produced four winners. Cautious won the race and Alfa was second. I am using the #8 Got Even, who has won 3 out of 4 times racing here. You could also use the #2 Day Of Fury from Baffert with Stevens on board but I chose Got Even as my speed play.

In the final race we have joint favorites in the morning line, #9 Zanbo and #14 Miss Ellany at 3-1. Zanbo won nicely in her last after dropping in price. The Irish fillie Miss Ellany drops nicely in class today after disappointing in stakes company. Miss Ellany won her previous race here in October. Finally I’m going to use #2 Tebowing who was second behind Zanbo in the last after winning in August, and running second in the race after. Another strong performance could see her in the winners circle again at a decent price.

Today’s Pick 4 bet will cost $40.50, three by three by three by three.
