We certainly got spoiled at Del Mar! Huge pools, nice fields, big prices and large payoffs. What a difference a different meet makes! The pays on the Pick 4 and Pick 5’s at Los Al are small as are the pools and for that reason we need to keep the bets on the low end. I am going to be playing 2 horses in each race of the Pick 5 and 2-3 in the Pick 4 and plan on keeping tickets at or under the $30 level. In sequences as we has seen thus far you have to make stands in some races and in fields where almost anyone can win and the prices are all low making tickets big is not a good approach. For the first time this meet, despite the smallish fields, we have some very interesting longshot plays!

Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
