Del Mar September 11

The last day of racing is upon us at Del Mar. Thank you for stopping by and reading my daily racing analysis. I hope to see you all back for the Fall meet in November and prior to that Santa Anita.

Value Plays of the Day:

Race 1: Charlotte Harbor drops in class and gets a major jockey upgrade to Rispoli. Trainer has huge ROI’s on drops like this and in maiden claimers and has put in some sharp workouts 1st off the claim including a 47 second work recently. I’M No Ballerina drops in class for Wong in a very wide open and tough race.

Race 4: Double Fantasy makes the 1st start in 10 months, adds Lasix for a trainer who hits with prices on this and who has a big ROI off the bench. Berrios, who is riding lites out, gets the mount. If this horse is anything like last year this price is great.

Race 7: Brix, blinkers on, jockey upgrade and some bullet works racing protected today. Top class, top speed and a big closing kick in a race expected to have fast early times this price is excellent!

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.

*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outsider for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
