November 22, 2014: 3/4 yesterday but we were able to end the drought with Pick 5 win that paid $123 for an $36 bet! Today's late Pick 4 looks very nice. We are going to use our usual spread strategy of 3 horses in each leg for a $40.50 total bet. In the 1st leg, race #6 we will use 3,7,10. Th3 3 is a horse that if I don't bet, come race time I am usually regretting the decision! The last race it looked as though 3 would hold on for the in so lets see if we get a repeat of that strong performance. #10 looks like the most probable winner here. Claimed by Hollendorfer who has a 36% win rate off the claim 10 also has turf expert Nakitani riding. One other thing to look for as well. When looking at past race performances the #10 is almost always in the money and does like to win. #7 has Bejarano and even though he is having a quiet couple of months since his injury return you cannot overlook. Also the 7 is another that loves to finish in the money. Race 7 we are going to use 2,5,6. The #4 is a Baffert/Garcia tandem horse which means I wont use them. It will likely be favorite but we have been burned enough by these 2. #6 is our favorite riding tandem, Hess/Desormeaux. During the summer meet these 2 lit it up and here's hoping for a repeat into the final days here. #5 has run well at Del Mar in the past. #2 is our 3rd selection. Race 8 has a 1st time UK entry which means a must use for us, the #9. The horse is also 10/14 in Europe and we should get a nice price. We are going to use the #3, the other Irish who has run well here in the states. #2 has won 2 of the last three including here at Del Mar, has Irish trainer Paddy Gallagher and turf pro Solis. #1 will be the favorite and rightly so given its last race and can be used but I will stick with my Irish selections. In the final leg, race 9 we will use 1,4,8. #1 is the clear fav and the one slot has been winning at a high percentage on this track. #8 is a firster with a lot of positive chatter. #6 attracts Bejarano and has chatter regarding fast morning workouts.
