Del Mar 08-05-2016 Free Plays

Well we had 5 of 5 on the ALL Pick 5 ticket yesterday but we got royally screwed by the stewards when obvious outside horse inference caused our 8-1 longshot Captain Akers to bump and down he came. Nothing was done to the outside horse. The first leg we nailed it betting against the claim bait odds on horse with the all ticket and got a 6-1 price home. It pays to know how certain jockeys and trainers are and Hess not putting Desormeaux on his new claim, the odds on favorite, was a telling sign it was claim bait. It is rather annoying having a big Pick 5 payout taken from you on a bad call!

I’m not sure if I love this card today or if I’m blah on it! It has a chalky look at first blush but when you dig in it does seem like it could be a wild Friday night!

Del Mar is where the big prices usually hit and where our biggest wins have come!

Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
