When I see a card like today where I find it hard to dig up longshots it usually means a price horse I will never land on could win and as such I am going to keep the tickets super low today. Depending how the early races shape up I may look to spend more cash on rolling doubles and trifecta boxes.
Pick 4 I need a single is race – none today longshot shopping
Pick 5 I need a single is in race 3 Mo See Cal who was a longshot play for me this past weekend in a stakes race but scratched out for this spot instead. Any other jockey riding this would be a major single for me but win rider Van Dyke is replaced with Mike “always second” Smith. Van Dyke rides Whirling. I’m using both but…

Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
