Closing day at the Great Race Place and we have a monstrous Pick 6 mandatory payout jackpot to play!Yesterday’s Pick 4 win was a small one but it gives us ammo for today. We have some big fields to contend with today that should ensure some giant payoffs.
The jockey title is a race between Prat and the resurgent Bejarano. Prat is ahead by 1 and has 5 mounts today. Bejarano has 5 as well but all longshots. $2 win/place on the their mounts today will cost $40.
Miller is ahead of Hollendorfer by 1 race as well.
Next week we head off to Del Mar for its Fall Meet. I will be hosting the Newcomers Seminar inside the front gate on Sunday’s so stop on by and say hi!
Pick 4 I need a single is race – none longshot shopping
Pick 5 I need a single is in race – none longshot shopping
Longshots of the Day:
Race 4: Fahan Mura is going to try and steal this race gate to wire and is an impressive 5 for 5 at Santa Anita. She loves this track. The favorite in here will be a single for many going for the 8th win in a row so this us a price backup
Race 6: Allaboutmike, Bejarano longshot on the Hillside course comes in with a sharp work 2nd off the bench and has 2 win and a second from 6 Hillside races. 15-1 morning line is nice
Race 8: Prince Earl moves up in class off two straight wins, puts in a sharp work and picks up Bejarano
Race 9: Major Cabbie has a major jockey upgrade from Smith to Van Dyke who won on him last year. 3rd start off the layoff sharp work and a big 15-1 morning line price. Note the last races this horse was right there. A jockeys ride today could be the difference
Race 9: Knight’s Cross attracts Prat to this thus far disappointing Desormeaux horse. If Kent does not ride his brothers horses I tend to look away but you do not waste a call to Prat in a tight jockey race and we get a sharp workout
Today’s Race 8 Late Pick 4 will cost $60 depending on singles with horses listed in preference.
11,8 (6)
8,2,1,4,7
4,3,2,9 (6)
3,2,9
Today’s Early Pick 5 will cost $48 with singles with horses listed in preference
8,3
7,6 (5)
6,4 (2)
1,8,2 (3)
3,6,1,2
Race 6-7:
1,3,8,5
11,8,6
Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
