We have some short difficult fields to deal with today. Last Saturday and Sunday was a tough one with short fields and low payout potential. We had to single. Our sure thing singles however kept running second. 3 of 4 in the Pick 4 and 4 of 5 in the Pick 5’s with good value payoff potentials we have been right there so I am sticking with the same strategy today. Let’s build our Breeders Cup bankroll in the coming days!
Pick 5 I need a single is in race 2 Lady Sunset because its either single in here or use all. There is nothing else in this race – not exactly a ringing endorsement but let’s see if we can get the Fuentes early double. The last race was a live one with multiple horses finishing in the money in their next races.
Pick 4 I need a single is in race 6 Colonel Power picks up Baze today for Sadler. 3rd start off the layoff with sharp works the tactic will be gate to wire.
Longshots of the Day:
Race 1: Black Storm, in a card with value hard to find, at 5-1 looks nice off two straight wins. Seeking the 3rd win in a row we see yet another new jockey, this time Rueben Fuentes. Trainer Lloyd Wicker is 1 for 3 winner last race. We see a couple of sharp workouts for today’s race and they raise the horse in class. This is a small stable looking to get paid on the claim and the purse money. 1st time routing so we may get a better value than 5-1 even though I believe the distance is fine for this horse. Look at the last few race replays – this horse tracks and powers late and loves to pass other horses and fights to win. Tough to train this, they either have it or they don’t. This horse has it.
Race 8: Irish Ballad won impressively last out in July. Moves up in class and routes for the 1st time. 12-1 or more and has a great name too. Trainer has horrendous stats BUT has a with a longshot like this 2 weeks ago. We need a price like this in the Pick 4 today.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
