10-24-20 Santa Anita Full Card

The 2nd last day of racing before we head off to Del Mar. Another small field card today I am keeping the tickets light.

LA Times Value Play:

Race 1: Octopus is 1st off the claim for trainer Doug O’Neill who is winning 26%. He has really heated up recently at the meet and today moves this horse to turf for the 1st time.  The horse has the highest last race speed and shortens up today. On dirt Octopus is 2 for 2 at this distance. This opening race of the card is a wide open, anyone can win, 5 horse field so I am going with the 12-1 value horse. Value horses have won this race 35% as well, 19% of them over 10-1.

Value Plays for Today:.

Race 6: Storm the Bastille is the horse Pereira stays despite riding the favorite last out. He wins 27% for trainer Spawr. 12-1 or more is nice for a horse with a great closing kick.

Race 7: Happy Trails gets a giant weight break and she is 1 for 1 for Brinkerhoff who drops the horse today for the money run.

Race 10: Grand Meister – Rispoli/Miller 8-1 yes!

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.

*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

Irish horse racing saying –

“Bíonn grásta Dé idir an dialait agus an talamh.”

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
