Another carryover for today’s Pick 6 pool with the late start time of 4pm should really goose the pools. Our longshots are starting to come in and that is a great sign for our Pick 4 and Pick 5 bets. Yesterday saw 13-1 Worthy Turk win and in the feature race Nice Ice came home at a nice 6-1 price. We only need the sure singles to not scratch and make a mess of tickets as we have seen lately! When the longshots start winning for us like this a nice Pick 4/5 win is usually right around the corner. We have 8 races today meaning the Pick 4 and Pick 5 races are combined in race 5 and with a morning line favorite at 7/2 that screams hard and hard means $$$$
I found a couple of races very, very difficult to handicap in that everyone has a look so I have given the lowest ticket options today with the other selections to add in at your choosing depending on how the card plays. All the scratches of the top choices are not helping either! Night time races play different at Del Mar as we saw last week.
If you are at Del Mar this summer be sure to stop by the Newcomers Seminar and say hello as I will be hosting it each Sunday one hour before the first race at the main entrance.
Pick 4 I need a single in race 6 Take the One O One whom Talamo chooses over the 8/5 fav who he rode to the last two victories. Smith hops on that favorite. Going with the horse the winning jockey picked here
Pick 5 I need a single is race in race 4 Naughty Sophie won by almost 9 lengths at this distance last month, highest last race speed, best dirt speed and Miller re-runs at the same claiming level for the easy payday
Longshots of the Day:
Race 1: Royal Asscher, ships in and drops with a 3-0-1 record from 5 starts at the distance. A couple of sharp works and a big price for us. Will be flying late.
Race 3: Chieftain Lad, Roman is 2 for 2 for trainer Brinkerhoof, 31% shipping and 19% 1st start with trainer
Today’s Pick 4 will cost $12 with horses listed in preference.
Today’s Pick 5 will cost $54 with horses listed in preference
8,6,5,7 or ALL
Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
