The prices are really starting to come in at Del Mar as evidenced by the double carryover in the Pick 6 today! The Pick 4 and Pick 5 overlap today and this is a card that has giant pay-outs written all over it. There are a couple of races we have to make stands in and if we get out of those we are in great shape today! I am going with my stand 3 horses in each race for the Pick 4 today.

Pick 4 I need a single is race 8 Looking At Thelake who ran second last out at this distance closing. Rails are at 30 feet but this horse can also go gate to wire as shown in April at this distance. Roman has not figured out this turf course yet but should soon! This last race however is won by horses over 5-1 a big50% of the time and 28% over 10-1.

Race 1: Shakti, granted Miller was ok seeing her claimed last month instead of saving for Del Mar but he has been ice-cold so maybe another wrong move by him, ran second going 7fl last out and put in a sharp work for a trainer who is 18% 1st off the claim, horse can go gate to wide or close like a freight train in the stretch, very useful for this track and we get 10-1 or more
Race 3: Top Tizzy, the rails are at 30 feet and that means front runners have the advantage so Baze is likely to go from the gate and hope to hold on at a price
Race 6: Chewy Round Town, Brice/Gallagher horse recently gelded after a 4th last out in a race that saw multiple return winners
Race 8: Lookinfordanger, won 1st off the bench in June with Bejarano who bails which is a concern but you have to think this race was the target given how well he raced here last summer, we get 10-1 or more, trainer is 18% winner last for a big ROI

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
