07-24-2020 Del Mar Full Card

Back to Del Mar we go after a brief respite. We have a long weekend of racing with racing on Monday and a loaded card for Friday. Races 7 and 10 look very competitive and looks to be great races for hunting for value and exotic bets.

LA Time Value Play:

A little rant here – how is Umberto Rispoli not riding every race while these very questionable lower level jockeys are? He has rides in only 5 of 11 races today. For that reason I am making it Rispoli day. I’m using all his horses today but focusing on the two horses priced 6-1 or more. In race 8 he rides the debut of Big Dress for trainer Tim Yakteen for owner George Kirkorian. George had a big meet last summer. Sire is 27% in debuts and this jockey/trainer are winning 33% and 2 for 2 here. In race 11 he rides City Rage for trainer Mark Glatt. 3rd off the layoff this trainer wins 24%. Rispoli rode for the 1st time last out going five and half  and came late to miss by less than two lengths. I love betting 2nd time Rispoli when he does that.

Value Plays for Today:

Race 4: Loud Loud Music takes a jump in class and tries dirt after 2 turf wins going shorter. Tiago is winning 31% for Miyadi who is 50% or more ITM on many categories. Horses like this win races like this at Del Mar.

Race 7: Tizhotndusty makes the 3rd start off the layoff for trainer Eric Kruljac who is off to a hot start at the beach with two wins and a third from 4 starts. 15-1 is great value. Price horse win this race half the time.

Race 9: Tomlin has the top speed in this race and ships down off a win last out at this distance for a small trainer having a great year. Sharp work great price! Cameo Shores trainer is 3* dropping multiple classes, 22% maiden claiming

Race 10: Solitaire – the Desormeuax brothers have been ice cold but it’s Del Mar and they risk the horse for a claim in the debut for their own stable. There was a time they oned Del Mar

Race 11: City Rage – Rispoli rides and he rode the favorite last out and lands here at 6-1. Trainer is 24% 3rd off the layoff, Glatt is on fire going 40% opening weekend

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.

*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
