07-22-2017 Del Mar Full Card

In race 4 the selection is 6,2,3

In the Pick 4 race 10 we are using 12,7,2

We have a Pick 6 carryover into today’s card that also features the return of Arrogate. We even have the Arrogate race included in the Pick 4 sequence which means many punters will be using that as a free spot. Jockey’s Desormeaux and Roman woke up yesterday in a big way too. The longshots are really starting to fall at Del mar as evidenced by the large payouts over the last 2 days and the carryover today. Those are the payouts I am shooting for with my selections. Let’s see what magic we can make happen today!

For those of you new to my selections let me give you the quick tour. I like to keep my tickets on the low end with a mix of live long shots and favorites. For the Pick 4 I like to keep the bet around $40 and this gives us 3 horse coverage in each race. For the Pick 5 $54 or less is what I am aiming for which gives us excellent coverage with a chance for some big pays. Horses are listed in preference so if you have a smaller bankroll you can remove horses and add your own plays to increase coverage.

Today’s card is only $8. Del Mar is where the big prices usually hit and where our biggest wins have come!

In the Pick 5 I am singling the 1st two races so a daily double using our plays as well!

In race 5 Ellis sends out a debut horse but son in law Talamo takes the ride on Sunday Nap. I am using both but favoring the horse Talamo picked

Pick 4 I need a single is Arrogate in race 9 for almost every punter, looking for the 8th win in a row his last victory was an impressive one in Dubai. The thing is horses that go there can bounce hard when they come back to the States and he didn’t resume training until June and granted there are bullet works but I am going to take a swing on Cat Burglar with Bejarano riding. Bejarano had the Arrogate mount for his 1st 3 wins before it was given to Smith. Revenge at a price or am I just throwing my money away? I’ll take a swing for chaos as I was at Del Mar way back when for the unbeaten Cigar match in which he lost. Anything can happen at the beach!

Longshots of the Day:

Race 3: Bank Walker, team Desormeaux debuter, sire wins 19%, mom has 2 winners from 2 starters including a stakes winner. Keith is very poor debuting in maiden claimers but this race is won by the fav 1 of 11 times but 90% of the time under 10-1

Race 5: Decarchy Dawn, Hess/Desormeaux are potent at Del Mar, drops in class and Hess is 24% on this move. Flash Henry in this race has a jockey/trainer who are 3 for 3 and dropping in class with sharp workouts into this race

Race 5: Royal Opera House, 1st time Irish and 1st time turf for a trainer 33% on this, 1st time Lasix and gelded since last race and we get a big price and I always play the 1st time Euro runners

Race 7: Joejoe’s Kingdom, hunch bet and name bet, it is Del Mar! Sire is 25% 1st time starters, dam has 3 winners from 4 starters and some nice bloodlines, series of nice works for this debut and a Del Mar price of 20-1 or more!

Race 8: Bombilate, Steven’s rides this Euro firster who adds Lasix and its also a Dp Racing horse and they did great last summer with longshots at Del Mar

Race 9: Cat Burglar – see above

Today’s Late Pick 4 will cost $45 with horses listed in preference.

Today’s Pick 5 will cost $24 with horses listed in preference

Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
