VALUE PLAY OF THE DAY:

In race 3 Whatsittoya has a win and 2 seconds from 3 starts at the distance with the lone win on dirt. Trainer is winning 31% in claiming races and he owns this horse and we see a sharp work in preparation. This small trainer is also 24% on the year from a small sample size of 50 races. These are the types of trainers who do very well at Del Mar and when they bring their horses here and risk them they tend to place them for the wins and exposure. There is a sharp best of the day workout last week. We saw a similar best of the day workout right before the last win. 8-1 is an excellent value in this race.

Pick 4/5 I need a single is in race 5 Kazan with Prat riding for Baltas and they are winning 29%. Baltas is winning 48% (11 of 23) 2nd off the claim and 70% in the money. Drops in class today. The added distance looks ideal. In race 6 Sneaking Out has won 4 of 6 with two seconds and should wire this field at low odds.

Longshots of the Day:

Race 2: Boyson, when jockey Velez rides for Sadler they are winning 50% from 10 races and in the money 80% with a nice ROI. This horse cost $180k and is risked today for a tag. Sadler is winning 26% and he has been placing his horses very well.  The horse broke slow in the debut, was a mile back and then ran on late. 1st time turf and risked but we are getting 10-1 or more. Watch the early money action here for clues.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

“Bíonn grásta Dé idir an dialait agus an talamh.”

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
