07-11-2020 Del Mar Full Card

Rispoli is off to a fast start and could be in store for a big summer at Del Mar, his 1st time trying. He went 3 of 7 yesterday and is a must bet every race jockey for me.

L.A. Times Value Play of the Day

Race 7: Rowangoestohollywood was a value play for me in the debut race last month at five and a half furlongs. The horse blasted out of the gate, tracked in third into the turn and made a small late move before fading. It was a nice debut where nothing was expected. Today small trainer Alfredo Marquez sends the horse routing. This trainer is 21% from his 14 race sample and 22% in turf starts. He has a flat bet profit. This horse cost $75k, a decent amount of money compared to some of the horses in here. The name is also the name of my niece and it is DEL MAR. Crazy value plays and name horses have done very well here for us over the years. Horses over 5-1 win this race 40% of the time.

Value Plays for Today:

Race 2: Restoring Dreams is 1st time Rispoli a potent angle this year. Won last out under the lights but before that raced on turf. This trainer is 3 of 6 1st time claimers and 21% on the year. 15-1 is a great price in a wide open race. D K’s Crown makes the 1st start in over a year but had a best of the day work here last week. Tries turf for a small trainer winning 18%

Race 5: Cross Indian was ridden horribly in the debut, not uncommon for this jockey but despite numerous issues and bumping the horse did make a nice late move. That race experience, inside post and a better ride and we are looking at a great price to end the pick 5.

Race 6: Scarto – Rispoli is o for 8 for trainer Puype after this duo were red hot earlier in the year. Shortens up 12-1 with the way this jockey is riding we  are using. Scatro was recently gelded as well.

Race 7: Lil Sidney  – Cedillo is 28% for Glatt and they are 80% ITM, dropping in class with a sharp work

Race 8: Jasikan  – Rispoli. Oh and the horse is 1-0-1 from 2 starts here making the 1st stating since August here

Race 10: Fabiolla finally gets to run long here in the States after closing 3rds the last 2 races. Trainer is 24% 3rd off the layoff, Roman has a longshot win for this trainer and is ready to heat up and the 12-1 price is great value

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.

*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
