We have 7 short field races today as the horse inventory dries up ahead of Del Mar. I am spending more than I should on the late pick 4 today because if our two longshots hit it actually could pay decently. Also there is no early Pick 5 today due to the 7 race card.
If you are going to Del Mar this summer be sure to stop by and say Hi. I will be hosting the Newcomers Seminar every Friday and Sunday inside the main gate.
My Del Mar Season Pass is on sale now for only $150 a 40% discount!
Pick 5 I need a single is in race 2 Jump the Tracks from trainer Saldana who also enters another horse. He owns this horse and puts the bug boy on for the weight break and drops in class today. Top speed in the race. Trainer claimed last out and places for the easy paycheck. In race 3 Chay Up and Away comes in off the bench after winning gate to wire in May. Same tactic today. A nice double for us today.
Pick 4 I need a single is in race – none today
Longshots of the Day:
Race 5: Sippin’ Sweet Tea moves up in class for trainer Eoin Harty off a win last out and gets Lasix for the 2nd time, a move that the trainer wins 20% of the time with. The track profile looks to suit this horse perfectly. I especially like the last race notes of “driving” when racing up north implying the distance should be fine. Has a 2nd from 2 starts at this mile distance. The horse won easy last out splitting horses into the turn and powering down the stretch. We are getting 8-1, the best value today on this entire card
Race 7: Tengs Wonder looks very interesting at the 15-1 morning line price. Has raced 2nd three straight and now moves up in class for a trainer 18% on this move. Has early speed and will look to try and wire the field. Switches to red hot Diaz and his weight break so the 7 pound lighter weight today could be the difference maker.
Today’s Race 4 Late Pick 4 will cost $48 singling with horses listed in preference.
Today’s Race 1 Early Pick 5 will cost $9 with horses listed in preference
Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
