04-27-2019 Santa Anita Full Card

We have another card of mostly 5-7 horse races with almost every horse having a chance and very little value. The late Pick 4 is all Allowance races with no horses risked for claim, somewhat of a rarity these days.

Pick 4 I need a single is in race  – none today

Pick 5 I need a single is in race 3 Jimmy the Juice who is dropping multiple classes for a trainer 50% (2 of 4) on the move and 75% in the money. Top speed, best late pace and drops back to a level where he won prior.

Longshots of the Day:

Race 5: Jasikan is a 1st time Irish turfer and I always use them. Adds Lasix for Sadler and races protected today

Race 8: Lord Guinness and no I am not using this horse because I like Guiness (well maybe). 1st start since January for trainer Tim Yakteen who is a solid 24% (7 of 29) off a layoff like today. We have a sharp work last week that adds to the appeal. On paper there looks to be a lot of early speed in this race, speed that tends to fade late setting the race up for a closer like this horse. Ran second at this distance last year. If he runs to last years ability we have a big chance at high odds. Also note this horse is not risked for a claim today, another sign of confidence off the three month layoff. Horses are not cheap to stable so there are bills to pay and today maybe be paycheck day. This is a wide open race in a tough Late Pick 4 sequence so I am looking for a price.

Today’s Race 6 Late Pick 4 will cost $48 depending on singles with horses listed in preference.

Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice  with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.

When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

“Bíonn grásta Dé idir an dialait agus an talamh.”

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
