Racing is allowed to continue in California under new protocols and that is great news for us as we dive into this excellent Saturday card at The Great Race Place. We have 9 races today and a first post of 12:30.I have two standout singles today and that allows me to spread deeply in some legs looking for some big value plays for our Pick 5 and Pick 4 wins!
Pick 5 single is in race 5 Bound for Nowhere who ships out here from back East because of the race cancellations and makes the 1st Cali start for trainer Wesley Ward. This is the 1st start since a win in October but check out the workouts since February, 6 straight best of the day bullet workouts! I’d say this horse is ready to go! Doubtful off the bench? Nope! The last 4 bench races saw 3 wins and a 2nd by a tongue on the line. Top speed, top class gate to wire for our Pick 5 win today!
Pick 4 single is race 7 Oscar Dominguez who loves these marathon races. He won at this distance in the Hollywood Turf Cup in December and last out in his prep race he made a little too late move going shorter to run 3rd missing by less than a length 5 wide. Rispoli takes the ride today for the first time and it should be noted Umberto rode Ward M Jerry last out, the only competitor whom I see for Oscar in this race solidifying my choice to single Oscar here.
L.A. Times Value Play of the Day
Race 6: Mongolian Sunrise. In a race where everyone has taken turns beating each other let us go with the best value play in here at 12-1. Mongolian won her debut race last month winning by 8 easy lengths. A little green in the debut she drifted in down the stretch but no one was catching her. Trainer Enebish Ganbat won a lot of value plays for us last year starting now. He is winning 20% maiden winner last race for a profit and his in the money percentages across multiple categories are 30-45%. I am using ALL in this race for my late Pick 4 so with that in mind this is my value play of the day.
Value Plays for Today:
Race 2: Mystery Messenger is here because I strongly debated singling this “other” O’Neill horse. The lightbulb went off in January 1st time Rispoli with a win. Shipping up to GG under Desormeaux saw another win. Rispoli is back on and they stretch to a mile. He is winning 60% for O’Neill and 80% in the money. 4-1 morning line we may actually get higher. Oliver is the class of the field but just cannot win and this jockey is ice cold.
Race 8: Doheny Beach was my other choice as my L.A Times Play of the Day. 30-1 morning line this is the only speed in this very mediocre race. The trainer from his small stable is 17% so far going 2-1-1 from 12 horses. He likes to close.

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.
*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
