It was chalky but we hit the late Pick 4 on Friday and that gives us some ammo for today’s very competitive 9 race card. No standout singles todays but some very nice value plays.

L.A. Times Value Play of the Day
Race 7: Coast of Roan was a value play for us last out in January. Raphael Bejarano was named to ride but Umberto Rispoli took over. After tracking the leaders into the stretch they made a very late move to run third, two and half lengths behind the winner. On the gallop out past the line he passed them all. Rispoli, having ridden that horse on late notice will now be ready for the race today. Trainer Doug O’Neill cuts the horse back an eight and races the horse protected again today. This horse has the top last race speed. We are getting 8-1 value today. This is a very wide open race spread deep in your Pick 4 tickets. I also like Incredible Luck in this race as well.
Value Plays for Today:
Race 5: Satanta picks up Prat for the turf debut today making the first start since mid December. The best of day 46 second workout on Feb 1 jumps out. Last week they breezed the horse so everything looks dialed in for today’s race (and why Prat is on). 6-1 is a great value.
Race 9: Cosmo has a horrible post position but its the last race and Smith is riding. 1st time Lasix to go along with a bullet workout last week and the horse races protected. I can see Smith letting this horse sit back and surge late, hopefully for the win!

For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
