What a great way to start the weekend with that Pick 5 yesterday returning $3,005 for the $72 bet. I did say we needed to spread that card and spend a little more for potentially big pays and pay big it did. Back to work today for another tough 10 race card we go. I am again spending more on the tickets looking for some big value wins today. If you need to tighten the Pick 4 bet Lighthouse in race 9 would be my “need a single” play.
LA Times Value Play:
Race 5: La Gata Elegante won going longer in early October at Golden Gate and then next out led early before having the saddle slip. With GG closed like many others the trainer ships down to Santa Anita. Unlike most of the other horses in here, including the top choices, this horse won recently. The racing conditions for today’s race are fillies and mares 4 years older who have never won two races. I will go with the 12-1 value play who at least won recently!
Value Plays for Today:.
Race 6: The Roan Ranger was a value play for me in the debut in November and after breaking slowly tried to make a move mid race but finished 5th.On the gallop out Roan cruised by the winners. Today trainer David Bernstein adds 1st time Lasix. Roan has the best last race pace.
Rsce 7: Daniels Magic – Horses over 5-1 have won this race 55% with 22% over 10-1. Value players race indeed! Trainer Harty is 1 for 2 at the meet and tries turf for the 2nd career race, interestingly without Lasix. In the debut this horse led into the stretch before being knocked sideways and checked badly. 1st time turf sneaky price in really a wide open race. The top choices are no cinch.
Race 8: Proud Emma has the best closing kick in a race loaded with speed. Miller is 24% winner last race and 32% already at this meet. Ground saving inside trip for a surge down the stretch.
Race 10: Malakai Moxie is a 1st time gelding jumping in class for D’Amato who puts daughter in law Pyer and her 11 pound weight break to the fav on board. The horse is 1 for 1 here winning on dirt here going 6 ½ in June. Spread race for the Pick 4.

Typos happen and I do my best not to make them. Always read through my writeups to make sure the posted numbers are correct. I list Pick 4, Pick 5 selections and also a listing of all plays for each race. If there are any differences, please let me know.
*Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.

“The grace of God is found between the saddle and the ground.”
