In race 3 for extra coverage #8 Goosecal from Cerin who is unbeaten at Del Mar at a price – bumps the Pick 5 cost to $60
We hit Snow Cloud again for a big price on Thursday, the second year in a row for the payoff here at Del Mar on this horse! Longshots are starting to come in now in waves at Del Mar and the Pick 4 and Pick 5’s are starting to be tax form fillers and that is what we are hunting for at this meet. I am structuring the tickets to get big pays for small bankrolls. Feel free to adjust the tickets to your bankroll, adding plays or using the top selection only if you are looking to go cheaper! Trainer Cerin is on fire at 3 for 3 while Miller is uncharacteristically cold at 1 for 13.
For those of you new to my selections let me give you the quick tour. I like to keep my tickets on the low end with a mix of live long shots and favorites. For the Pick 4 I like to keep the bet around $40 and this gives us 3 horse coverage in each race. For the Pick 5 $54 or less is what I am aiming for which gives us excellent coverage with a chance for some big pays. Horses are listed in preference so if you have a smaller bankroll you can remove horses and add your own plays to increase coverage.
Today’s card is only $8. Del Mar is where the big prices usually hit and where our biggest wins have come!
In race 2 Desormeaux/Hess team up on Cleanup Hitter and this tandem is potent at Del Mar and is 3 of 5 recently for 60%. Hess is 31% sprint to route to sprint and we have a bullet work into this. A single in the Pick 5 sequence for us
Pick 4 I need a single is Mrs McDougal in race 7 with Prat riding. Off since a G3 win last September for a trainer 23% on this move with some sharp works for this race. The one negative is Mandella/Prat tend to not win when they should an win when they should not! Prat however is an amazing 80% in da money so far in the meet so anything he rides is to be used in exotics.
None today – longshot
Longshots of the Day:
Race 3: Tooreen Dancer, 1st time Irish I am always betting in California! Off since November when she won her debut D’Amato is 23% off the bench, 17% 1st time Lasix and 26% maiden winner. Horses over 5-1 have won 54% of the time
Race 5: Tomasino, Prat rides, off the bench after 6 months looking for 4th in a row but no victories on turf, last two wins have come off the bench, trainer is 24% winner last race and we get a bullet workout
Race 6: Aglimpseofgabby, won last race off a series of bullets and now rises in class and ships in here for a trainer 12% shipping. I usually would not use but this is Del Mar home of the longshots and the other two choices in this race we are using I’m rather confident on
Today’s Late Pick 4 will cost $36 with horses listed in preference.
Today’s Pick 5 will cost $48 with horses listed in preference
Horses listed in brackets are for added coverage if wanted and for exotics.
For races where I only have one or two selections I usually like to KEY the top choice with the second choice and an outside for trifectas.
When I have three horses selected in a Pick 4 or Pick 5 consider them for Trifecta boxes and for superfecta boxes use the 3 selections with the highest priced horse with good form or top tier jockeys riding, especially if they give a price. Rolling Pick 3 and doubles using selections.
