I don’t like today’s sequence today because its one where you could spend a chunk of money and get zippo. I have a couple of tickets for small and large bankrolls. I also have some exotics bets at www.californiapick4.com
The Pick 4 starts on the Hillside today. If you want to single this race then #5 Atta Boy Pete is the horse. From trainer D’Amato Baze rides (4 of 8) and he ran second here last month but he is raising in class again. For extra coverage you can look to #3 Shakahari who moves up in class after a third. I usually don’t like seeing that especially on the Hillside. #2 Back to Bako has 2 wins on the hill.
#7 Masters Circle drops to the bottom in race 6 off an 8 month layoff. The other layoff horse is #6 Cowtownmary who takes blinkers off. #8 Wicker Man debuts with a weight break today. #9 Hallicinator shortens up.. This race has the feel of one where a price horse wins.
Prat and Mandella (5 of 24) team up on a possible single in race 7, the #2 Twentytwentyvision. 2 for 2 on turf and possibly 3 for 3. Proctor, however, runs two horses in here, #3 Global View with Stevens and #7 Kulik Lodge with Smith. Proctor is another trainer in a cold streak however. #7 looking for his 4th straight win off an 8 month break seems the better of the two but Stevens rides the other meaning if you use one you have to use both.
In the final leg #11 Roman Wild on paper looks like the horse to beat but Hess has been arctic cold and his main man Desormeaux does not ride. She shortens up in distance and we have to use but not a single. I will also use #3 Kenny’s Girl who finished third in her first race since August. 2nd start back and some speed rationing could give us a nice price. I also going to take a chance on a firster here because, well this race looks dodgy. Not much separates the other horses here so when that happens I look to jockey and trainer stats. #8 Native Ride debuts at age 4 (so issues) for Miller but Baze rides and this combo wins 26% of races.
My Pick 4 ticket starting in race #5 will cost $54
A cheaper ticket with singles in the first and third legs costs $15
My Best Bet today is one where I am going to move away from the hot choice and go with #6 Housemaker in Race 1. O’Neill and Nicholas are winning 42% (3 of 7) and she won here at this distance last month. O’Neill also enters the hot choice #3 Lookin For Money who drops in class after a 5th in a NX1. Bejarano has won 3 of 11 for O’Neill. Exacta box with both with edge to the 2nd choice.
