Yes, you guessed it I had 3 out of 4 again. The original version of this had some Gaelic curse words but I removed them. In the 7th race we got our big outsider winner on the Hillside course on my sisters’ name, It’s Aine at 16-1. I also had It’s Aine on the daily double I mentioned and it was paying $142 for $2! We looked GREAT going into the last race with the favorite but of course he got swallowed on the line to finish second. That cost us $1,000 in potential profits for our small bet. Even if it paid $10 it would not matter – it would be a win after our 3rd straight 3 out of 4 and 50th this meet. Today’s sequence also ends on the Hillside course!
The morning line favorite is #7 Shopping Savannah who was reclaimed by Chew for 20k but drops slightly today. Chew wins 20% on the reclaim. Most of the horses in here are dropping today so which one is going to take the prize? We have no fast works to fall back on so lets take a shot with an invader from Golden Gate, #8 Articulate with Bejarano on and who has 2 wins and a third from the last 4 starts.
In race #6 the favorite is #7 Lucky J Lane who is looking for his 3rd straight win. Bejarano and Baltas are on fire at 33%. Irish horse #5 Abbey Vale did something most Euro invadaers have been unable to do much of, win first time racing in the US. Its been almost a year since the last race BUT he won that race off a year layoff too. #9 Opsec from the Baffert/Garcia tandem was second to #7 in their last together and won his last race after that. Mike Smith rides #1 Awesome Return who loves to fly late, a god trait but hopefully Mike does not have him too far back for the surge again. This is a tough race and I hate having to go 4 deep with the hillside in the last leg but I have no choice.
Race #7 is a 5 half furlong sprint. #4 Head South loves this track with 2 wins and 3 seconds and had a fast workout last week. #6 Off the Deep End has been away since August but posted a fast workout last week and March 6, similar to what he did prior to his July win. #2 Brando the Birdman shortens up to 5 1/2 from his last 6 1/2 furling race where he was flying early to finish 5th. He lost by less than 2 lengths in that race making him very dangerous.
To end things we get the Hillside course where we nailed a 16-1 winner yesterday on the line only to lose the pick 4 in the last leg. Bejarano hops on #6 Currency Exchange making him the favorite. He also drops for Belvoir who is 2 for 6 on this move. I have no strong opinions on this race which kinda sucks given its on the hillside so I’m going swing for the fences. The Desormeaux brothers team up on #7 Stellar Act who races for the first time in 9 months but its team Desormeaux plus Keith is 20% on this move to Maiden Claiming and the brothers are winning 30%. #9 Dothraki and a second and third on the hill from 5 starts and gives a price and drops.
Good luck today!
Today’s Pick 4 bet will cost $36
