I am going to rename the website California Pick 3 out of 4! It is simply unreal how many times we have hit 3/4 this year and each time it looks like we are a go we get upset or some other calamity ensues! Today I am going back to what made me my money so many times in the past – my 3 in each race strategy.
In the first leg #3 Daddy DT drops from stakes races after two thirds and if he runs to his form he should win. I also like #2 Papacoolpapacool who is 1-1-1 from four starts on turf. The interesting horse here is the #1 Royal Albert Hall from England who has not raced on turf before, an unusual thing for a Euro import. At 12-1 he gives us a good price if our 1st and second choice don’t fire. His sire was also a Grade 1 winner on turf so its in his blood.
In race #7 Arlington House the #1 for Bejarano and Bonde who are 3 of 4 here is the logical favorite. He won his last race impressively, a race that saw the 4th and 5th place horses win next out. A fast workout since the last race adds to the appeal. At 8-1 #5 Silent Ruler is very appealing with his ability to finish in the money 4 of 5. Kent and O’Neill have also been a potent pair thus far rattling off 4 wins from 9 races. Nice stats for a come from behind horse in a mile race that sometimes favors horses like this. Finally the #6 Follow Me Crev who dropped in his last and romped to a 7 1/4 length victory is one I will use as well. Stevens rides and 6-1 is generous. I am not going to use the 2nd choice #9 Gold Chaser who won on dirt in December and finished 2nd on turf in his last. I have no reason not to use him other than I like my other 3 horses!
Race #8 brings us the downhill course. #1 Sweet Swap lost by a neck to #7 Hay Dude in their last despite giving up five pounds. I am using both. Sweet does not carry the extra weight today and Hay Dude loves to fly from the clouds, a skill that wins this race often. The favorite is #6 Home Run Kitten who is DROPPING which has been beneficial on the downhill. Those going up in class find it hard, droppers don’t. He has also won a Grade III on the downhill before. I am not going to use #2 Winning Prize simply because he has not raced since August, and even with his class edge he may need one.
In the final race #9 Bossman races for a trainer who is 2 for 2 with Baze on. He’s moving down in class which adds to the appeal. #8 Captain G finished 12th in his debut then dropped and came in second in his last. He drops yet again today off that effort and could get the win. I am also going to use #6 Borealis Breeze, another dropper who had a terrible trip in his last but comes into this race with 2 sharp workouts in the last 12 days.
Good luck to us today!
Today’s Pick 4 bet will cost $40.50.
