Three out of four again! I’m getting close to that big payoff, I can feel it in my bones. Going ALL in the 1st leg the downhill course was the right call and this time we got a nice price. Our single in the 2nd leg did us in however. What was supposed to be a two-horse race had neither horse in contention at all and a 16-1 chalk romped to victory. We got a nice price in the 3rd leg and the fav won in the final. If our single had won we would have been looking at a $500+ payoff for our 50c Pk 4!
In the first leg, race #5 the morning line favorite #3 Twentytwentyvision is stretching out with sharp recent works and could be a possible single. Bejarano jumps on #6 Norwalking the 2nd choice. After a 2nd place finish in November he managed to finish 3rd in December despite a bad trip. I also like the #1 J Sereno who has experience at this distance. I won’t use because I want to keep the ticket price reasonable but it is one to consider.
In the 6th race we have some interesting horses and I am going to go four deep. One thing I like to look at when handicapping is the jockey/trainer win percentages. You will see me mention them many times in my write-ups. Today we have some powerful win stats. #1 Swiss Jet has a 3 for 8 win from Perez/Abrams. #7 Chia Love has a 3 for 7 win percentage from red hot Bejanrano and Baltas. I will use both and to help both are dropping in class. #5 I Heart You is also dropping in class after a couple of ok runs at higher levels and today’s drop could bring the win. #9 Zippinaroundtown is a horse with seconditus but its is often horses like this surprise when you don’t use them so I will.
The 7th race is a mile on turf and this is a tough leg. #12 Diaminda an Irish filly has thus far been disappointing but these paddies on turf are always a danger. If she gets in off the AE list I will use her on this drop into the claiming ranks. #5 Susan B Good is dropping and has the red hot tandem of Desormeaux/O’Neill who are 3 for 4. #2 Shopping Savannah picks up Espinoza and shortens up after tiring in her last after taking the early lead. An interesting stat for #4 Warrens Goldnugget, she drops to a level she has never lost at.
In the final leg #2 Ski’s Copper Penny jumps out. She had a bad trip in her last and still managed to lose by only a couple of lengths. #10 Profit Motive also exited the same race and only lost by 3 lengths. #12 Ruby N Diamonds finished 3rd in both starts at big prices and moving to the outside today could help. All in all a VERY tough sequence today.
Today’s bet will cost $36
2,5,12 (4 if 12 does not run)
Good luck today!
